A detector analyzes AI interactions to identify specific data, patterns, or contextual signals. Each detector is designed to recognize one clearly defined target and return a confidence score that the AI engine uses for enforcement decisions.
Detectors act as building blocks. By combining multiple detectors, the system delivers accurate and reliable AI interaction analysis.
The CMA supports two types of detectors:

Entity detectors identify clearly defined data elements inside an AI interaction.
They focus on detecting specific items such as:
Sensitive data
Named entities
Industry-specific terms
Structured or semi-structured information
Each entity detector evaluates the interaction and determines how likely it is that the defined entity is present.
Use entity detectors when policy enforcement depends on identifying specific types of data.
Content Detectors
Content detectors evaluate the overall meaning and intent of an AI interaction.
Instead of detecting a specific data element, they analyze:
The user’s intent
The broader context of the prompt
Semantic patterns within the interaction
Use content detectors when enforcement depends on understanding the overall context rather than the presence of a specific entity.
Language Support
Detectors are developed and validated primarily for English by default. Additional language support may vary by detector and falls into the following categories:
English (default): Fully supported and tested.
Language-agnostic: Language is not relevant to the detection logic (e.g., IP addresses).
Multi-language: Supported languages include Chinese, English, French, German, Hebrew, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, and Spanish, unless otherwise specified.
While some detectors may produce results in languages beyond those listed, such behavior is not guaranteed, as these languages are not part of the formal training or validation scope.
Compliance Frameworks
Some of the AI Security detectors are designed to support compliance efforts and alignment with frameworks such as the OWASP Top 10 for LLMs, the EU AI Act, the NIST AI RMF, and MITRE ATLAS.
